Hi, was given the name of your site by a friend. I'm trying to
do a bit of research on the Criggie family tree, most of my
ancestors seem to come from Bervie/Gourdon area so if anyone can
help it would be much appreciated. Thanks |

Hi John, We recently through unfortunate circumstances found a
couple of news clippings (one dated April 27 1939) both are
about Coxswain George Milne of the gourdon Lifeboat receiving an
award for gallantry. We were chuffed to find a your depiction of
the 1938 Lifeboat. To every one out there Hi, any more
information available? We used to have many a holiday in
Johnshaven with my grandmother Donaldson mid fifty's to sixties
spending quite some time with Davy.
Thank you very much, an addition to my favourites |

just a question ? I got my Auburn hair from my mother Maggie
Bell Ritchie along with my 3 brothers Robert Ross. Guilbert Ross
@ Alex Ross
and 2 sisters Bessie Sourbutts @ Nancy Hutt.I passed it on to my
Son David and then to his Son my Grandson Austin. but not to my
Daughter Elise. Question does the auburn hair come from the

I haven't been here for some time, and it is great to read the
letters and go through the sites and sounds of Scotland. My
family came from Gourdon. Alex Ross. The last I heard my cousin
Margaret Mason still lived there. I think of my home land and
will always feel close when I visit this site. Thank you John.

Hi, I am the eldest son of Ella (nee Mowatt). Emigrated to NZ in
1959. Mum still has black & white photo of Gourdon hanging on
her wall. Mum keeps in contact with Ena Davidson (living in
Wellington NZ) and her 2 sisters, Lizzie in Inverbervie and
Margaret in Montrose
Great to see a web site about Gourdon |

Hello John. I clicked on to your site because my grandfather was
a John Ritchie. Looking through the little genealogy that I have
on the Ritchie family - I see that many of John's siblings had
similar names to your tree but the dates do not match up. My
grandfather John, born 1857 in Monimail, Fife. Anyway, I enjoyed
the site - lovely paintings. I grew up in South Africa and do
not know Scotland well so it's great to read about it. Thanks

My father George Stewart was born in Gourdon, he lived with his
Aunt Johan at 8 Brae Road. My brothers Alan and Henry were also
born in Gourdon, my mother was Catherine Elder. I have many
happy memories of Gourdon as a youngster. We immigraded to
Canada in 1957. I was back in Gourdon in 1986 and hope to visit
again to bring my parents ashes back for scattering. Your water
colours are great. |

I've visited this site several times and I must tell you John,
everytime I open this site it brings a smile to my face, the
music is lovely and takes me back to my trip and sitting on the
cliffs at Cowie, where we stayed. I also had a chance to read
the lovely poem, thank you John for this site, it gives the
wandering sheep a way to keep in touch. xox |
