My Dad was Charlie Ritchie, son of Valentine and Isabella Lownie. Our trees seem to join up at our GGGParents, David and Ann. I would be particularly interested to hear about yor memory of the term "deddie". Since I retired from teaching I have been researching the use Scots among schoool children but have also been tracking usage of the term"deddie" which surprisingly exists and is still current in two main locations - Gourdon and just south of the Broch, in Cairnbulg/Inverallochy and St Combs.! It was good to see the term used in connection with the "Deddie Jock" poem

I didnt see her in your tree, but she must be a close branch? I love the site, I too have many happy memories of Gourdon when I was little.
