about to start researching and are currently looking where to
start. Any ideas? |

Been coming up for over ten years, staying at Gordons caravan
park which has now sadly gone. Say hello to Peter Morrison,"my
good friend" back up soon for a pint with Wullum in the Harbour
Bar. Hope Wullum & Sharon's pub is doing well in Bervie. |

I loved your site which I came across trying to locate my
ancestors. My family came from Rosehearty, Aberdeenshire. My Mum
is Gladys Ritchie, my nan was Mary Ritchie. I wandered if you
had come across this branch of the Ritchies on your travels.

At last a site worth seeing, I am the son of Mary Christie, We
lived at 29 McGill, just across from Mary York.
When I was a wee boy Mag Arnnot used to come across and give us
Pomfract cakes, they were good and tough and lasted for ages.
We used to play on the harbour cobble in the summer and the
White wing, the fishing boats are all gone now I belive, but the
names are still in my head, Whispering Hope, Margureta, Day
Dawn, Reaper, Intrepid, and of special note was the lobster boat
the Diablo (Devil) and Sams boat the By Dand.
Fishing for poddlies and crabbies was great.
Ah that was the days, and last but not least, have any of you on
your travels ever seen a good Blakening sine you left Gourdon, I
have travled many many miles and have never seen one. |

Love your site which I found through Silver surfers - Gourdon
seems a lovely place and I must put it on my "places to visit if
I get time" list.
Your watercolours have reproduced well - more please. |

On behalf of my mother (Shirley (York) Bancroft) I am writing to
say that I am coming up to visit old friends in Gourdon tomorrow
(15th September). I was a frequent visitor to Gourdon throughout
my childhood, visiting my Grandparents Mary and David York from
McGill Terrace. My Grandfather played for the local football
team with Roy Souter. I remember Roy when I was a child. I hope
I see many old friends in the coming week.
Looking forward to eating the fish tomorrow. |

nice to see a website all about Gourdon.. i spent many a happy
summer hoilday up there. My great gran lived at 3 Mcgill terrace
her name was Mary York and we would stay with her for weeks at a
time all over the summer. So it was great to see some pictures of
gourdon again as i havent been up there for for nearly 7 years.
I will maybe go and have a pint in the Harbour Bar with Willum
who i believe is now the landlord.Love the water colours aswell
my mum and dad have 2 on the wall in their living room, both of
them of boats leaving the harbour (ME 47 & ME 87) they are
apparantly prints of original water colours.I will be checking
back regulary now maybe to see if anyone remembers me from my
childhood it would be interesting to see. |
